PARIS (AP) -Saint-Etienne was held to a 0-0 draw on a waterlogged pitch at struggling Ajaccio in the French league on Friday.

Saint-Etienne hadn't lost in its previous 12 matches but found it hard to carve out any opportunities on a wet and windy night in Corsica.

Ajaccio came closest to scoring, with Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier doing well to keep out Chakhir Belghazouani's effort from a tight angle.

A header by Adrian Mutu also whistled past Ruffier's left post.

Ajaccio should have taken all three points in the final minute when Eduardo headed back a cross to Frederic Sammaritano, who was completely unmarked in the center of the area - only for him to mishit his shot.
