Thailand beats Vietnam, Philippines sink Myanmar

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -Striker Kirati Keawsombut struck twice and led Thailand to a 3-1 win over 2008 champions Vietnam in the AFF Suzuki Cup Friday.

The victory means Thailand top Group A with nine points after earlier defeating Philippines and Myanmar.

Philippines also qualified for its second successive semifinal with six points after a 2-0 victory against Myanmar as Philip Younghusband and Angel Guirado found the target in the second half.

On Saturday, Singapore take on Laos while Malaysia meets Indonesia to decide the semifinal places from Group B.

The semifinals will be played on a home and away basis between Dec. 8-13.
