BERLIN (AP) -Austria striker Marco Arnautovic scored a hat-trick as Werder Bremen beat Hoffenheim 4-1 away in the Bundesliga on Sunday, turning up the pressure on opposition coach Markus Babbel.

Sebastian Proedl opened the scoring in the 21st, eight minutes before Arnautovic made it 2-0 after playing a simple one-two with Kevin De Bruyne.

Hoffenheim grabbed a lifeline in the 50th, when first half substitute Roberto Firmino set up Sejad Salihovic to score.

But Arnautovic scored his second from a free kick in the 73rd, and completed his first Bundesliga hat trick six minutes later, ensuring Hoffenheim's worst start to a season since securing topflight promotion in 2008 continued.

Hoffenheim remains in the relegation playoff place after its fourth consecutive defeat.

Wolfsburg was hosting Hamburg later Sunday.
