Malaga routs Granada 4-0 to rise to 4th in Spain
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -Malaga thrashed struggling Granada 4-0 at home on Saturday to provisionally rise into fourth place in the Spanish league.
Joaquin Sanchez scored in the 26th after defender Pape Diakhate had slipped, letting the Malaga forward take Javier Saviola's pass and slot under goalkeeper Antonio "Tono'' Rodriguez.
After teammate Jesus Gamez had hit the goal-frame, Saviola doubled Malaga's advantage in the 33rd with a great individual effort, cutting back to gain a wider angle before firing in with a right-footed shot.
Granada's Odion Ighalo hit the upright before Ignacio Camacho and Roque Santa Cruz scored for Malaga in the 75th and 86th minutues.
Malaga is level on points with Real Betis, which hosts Barcelona on Sunday. Granada is winless in four games.
