Record times eyed in Chicago Marathon

CHICAGO (AP) - Course records could be threatened with a fast field and cool weather projected for Sunday's Chicago Marathon.

Race time temperatures are predicted to be only in the high 30s, with the possibility of ice pellets and snow flurries. The field includes 43 elite men and 17 women competing for $100,000 first prizes.

Kenyan Moses Mosop won in 2011 with a course record 2:05.37, but he will miss Sunday's race as he recovers from an injury. Wesley Korir, a fellow Kenyan who won in Boston this year, is a favorite after finishing second in Chicago last year.

Russian Liliya Shobukhova seeks an unprecedented fourth straight Chicago title. She won last year's race in 2:18.20, less than a second off the course record 2:12.18 set by Great Britain's Paula Radcliffe in 2002.
