Those fantasy owners waiting on Pierre Garcon can stop.

Garcon finally explained what is going on with his toe, and the news is bad. A plantar plate tear near his second toe is unlikely to heal in time for the fantasy playoffs. There is no real treatment for this kind of injury besides rest, and with the ticking clock of the fantasy season already half past, it is time for Garcon owners to sound the alarm.

Garcon started the season with one explosive, tantalizing half before an injury took him out of the game and out of the fantasy season. A long bomb from Robert Griffin III to Garcon showed how good the young quarterback could be. Garcon, who had built up a solid rapport with Griffin in camp, looked to be the big beneficiary of the rookie passer's talent. Instead, the foot injury that occurred on the Superdome turf -- yet another in the long line of turf injuries this season -- ended things before Garcon even made it to halftime. Griffin has gone on to do big things without his likely WR1, but there's an element of "what if?"

Garcon has missed all but parts of two additional games, which has opened things up for rookie Leonard Hankerson at the WR1 spot. The WR2 slot, meanwhile, has rotated between Santana Moss, Josh Morgan and Aldrick Robinson. The Redskins' secondary receivers have been hit-or-miss from a fantasy perspective, and that won't change in light of this latest information. Hankerson remains the guy fantasy players want in the lineup each week, while tight end Logan Paulsen appears to be a solid fantasy option as well, especially in point-per-reception leagues.
