Well-traveled Rays in Cleveland to face Indians
CLEVELAND (AP) - Sporting sunglasses, a teal shirt and a backpack hanging from his shoulder, Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon looked like a tourist as he arrived late for his news conference.
He didn't have time to put on his uniform and had a good excuse. The Rays have been on the road.
After winning a tiebreaker in Texas on Monday night, the Rays celebrated getting one of the AL's two wild-card spots and flew to Cleveland for Wednesday night's winner-take-all game with the Indians. Maddon said he's confident in his team and believes because the Rays had to win road games in Toronto and Texas just to get to this point, they aren't feeling any pressure.
Tampa Bay will start right-hander Alex Cobb against Cleveland rookie Danny Salazar.
