SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The Sacramento Kings have waived guard Aaron Brooks.

The Kings announced the decision Friday night during their game in San Antonio. Brooks averaged eight points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 20.8 minutes per game. He played in 46 games, starting 20.

The Seattle native had talked in recent weeks about the possibility of playing in his hometown next season. The Maloof family has agreed to sell the Kings to a Seattle group led by hedge-fund manager Chris Hansen and Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer.

That deal must still be approved by the NBA's Board of Governors. A Sacramento group headed by 24 Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov and billionaire Ron Burkle also has submitted a bid to the league in an attempt to keep the Kings in California's capital city.
