Robert Morris beats Monmouth 70-55

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) - Lucky Jones came off the bench and scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Robert Morris past Monmouth 70-55 Saturday night in a Northeast Conference matchup.

Coron Williams scored 14 points, Mike McFadden added 12 and Russell Johnson chipped in with seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds as Robert Morris (10-7, 2-2) outrebounded Monmouth 44-31.

Monmouth (6-11, 1-3) shot just 25 percent (7 for 28) in the first half and Robert Morris led at halftime 29-21.

Robert Morris extended its halftime lead early, and took its biggest lead of the game, 51-30, on a free throw by Jones with 9:02 left to play.

Jones helped the Colonials dominate in bench points 34-9.

Jesse Steele led the Hawks with 17 points. Andrew Nicholas was the only other player for Monmouth in double figures with 13 points.
