LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Mario Chalmers, whose buzzer-beating 3-pointer helped Kansas win the 2008 national title, had his No. 15 retired during halftime of the Jayhawks' game against Texas on Saturday night.

Chalmers, who also helped the Miami Heat win the NBA title last season, had his name unveiled in the south end of Allen Fieldhouse between Wayne Simien, who starred from 2002-05, and Max Falkenstien, who was honored for 60 years of broadcasting Kansas games.

Chalmers thanked coach Bill Self and the rest of the staff, former teammates and especially Jeff Hawkins, who convinced him not to transfer during his freshman season.

Chalmers eventually led the Jayhawks to three Big 12 titles, and hit the biggest shot of the night when they beat Memphis in overtime in the 2008 national championship game.
