INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Guard Elijah Brown has signed his national letter-of-intent to play at Butler.

The son of former Lakers coach Mike Brown verbally committed to the Bulldogs in January. Last season, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 17.3 points and led Santa Ana Mater Dei to a 34-2 mark and its second straight California state title.

Butler coach Brad Stevens calls Brown a student of the game who will give the Bulldogs a creative scorer and more versatility in the lineup. He is the fourth player in Butler's recruiting class, joining 6-10 Nolan Berry, 6-7 Andrew Chrabascz, and 6-2 Rene Castro.

Brown says he's been interested in Butler from the moment Stevens started showing interest.

Butler went 27-9 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament last season.
