RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Shaka Smart smiles with a told-you-so look that is part amusement, and part frustration.

The coach who led VCU to the Final Four in 2011 has been courted by bigger programs every year since, but has always maintained that he's happy in Richmond. He still has his office overlooking the Seigel Center floor, where Smart's teams have continued to build on that tournament run two years ago.

Smart says people are probably too quick to label coaches who leave schools as greedy, and too likely to credit those who stay for being loyal.

VCU has tried to make it easy for Smart to stay put.

He signed a contract extension this year, his annual salary is $1.5 million and the school has plans to build a basketball practice facility.
