Oscar nominations were announced this morning, so this gives me a chance to tell you to go see Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty as soon as possible. It also gives me a chance to post this gallery that looks at the history of sports movies and the Academy Awards. I guess Silver Linings Playbook isn't considered a "sports movie," but Robert DeNiro (nominated for Best Supporting Actor) does play a bookie and huge Phiadelphia Eagles fan. Beyonce is gearing up for performing at halftime of the Super Bowl by appearing in this month's GQ. Referee Billy Kennedy was caught on camera last night telling Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni that he was stalling for a TV commercial even though ESPN was back on the air. The network then cut to a commercial, which made the sequence all the more bizarre.
