COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has announced that cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs will also be in charge of the team's special teams.

Coombs is in his 31st year of coaching, including his seventh on the collegiate level - and is just starting his second season with the Buckeyes. He spent five years at the University of Cincinnati and was special teams coordinator for three seasons (2009-11).

Coombs helped Ohio State to a 12-0 record this year.

A lifelong Ohioan, he grew up in suburban Cincinnati, graduated from Colerain High in 1979 and from the University of Dayton in 1983, and has a master's degree from Wright State (1996).
