BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Indiana has hired Oklahoma assistant James Patton as its new special teams coordinator.

He also will serve as assistant defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. Jon Fabris, who coached defensive ends coach and oversaw punt return and block in 2011, will assume the responsibility of defensive line coach with no special teams duties.

Patton comes to the Hoosiers from Oklahoma, where he had been the offensive line coach since 2006. Indiana coach Kevin Wilson was on the same Oklahoma staff for four of those seasons.

Like Wilson, Patton also coached at Miami (Ohio) and Northwestern before going to Oklahoma.
