BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU running back Jeremy Hill has been arrested on a simply battery charge in connection with an altercation outside a bar near campus.

LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette says coach Les Miles is at the NFL draft in New York and won't comment until he returns to Baton Rouge and speaks with Hill.

Hill was LSU's leading rusher with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012, his freshman season. His college career was delayed a year after he was arrested in early 2011 for an alleged sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and was sentenced to two years' probation.

East Baton rouge District Attorney Hiller Moore says Hill would be in violation of probation if convicted, but he is presumed innocent for now.
