GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The NHL is hopeful it can still sell the Phoenix Coyotes even though prospective owner Greg Jamison missed a deadline with the city of Glendale.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly issued a statement Friday saying the league will continue to work with Glendale to move the process forward to resolve the team's ownership issue.

Jamison failed to finish his purchase of the franchise from the NHL before midnight Thursday, the deadline set in a 20-year, $308 million lease agreement he reached with Glendale for Jobing.com Arena.

Coyotes chief operating officer Mike Nealy said the team will continue to be owned by the NHL and will work with Glendale to close a deal to keep it in Arizona.
