Hockey parents must brush up on conduct at rink
FREDERICTON, New Brunswick (AP) - Parents of New Brunswick's youngest hockey players will have to brush up on their behavior at the rink.
The general manager of Hockey New Brunswick says the organization plans to introduce an online course in September. Brian Whitehead says the course is mandatory for any parent registering children 4 to 8 years old.
Coaches and volunteers won't be required to take the course.
Whitehead says parents won't be charged a fee. In Nova Scotia, a similar program that began last year cost $12.
The program will cost Hockey New Brunswick about $30,000 annually.
