Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter says every team in the playoffs has a chance to win the Stanley Cup because of the salary cap.

The Sutter-led Kings proved that last year, becoming the first team seeded eighth to win an NHL title.

Los Angeles' quest to repeat begins Tuesday night in St. Louis.

Since the salary cap became part of the league's collective bargaining agreement after a lockout wiped out the 2004-05 season, seven teams have hoisted the Stanley Cup once and no franchise has done it twice.
