ZURICH (AP) - Kazakhstan hockey player Ilya Solaryov has been banned for two years for doping in a world championship qualifying game.

The International Ice Hockey Federation says Solaryov tested positive for salbutamol, a performance enhancing asthma medication, after playing Hungary in April.

The governing body says Solaryov, who is 31, is suspended from "all competitions authorized and organized by the IIHF or any member national associations'' through July 31, 2015. He can appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The one-time Tampa Bay Lightning draftee will miss the 2014 worlds in Belarus, and the 2015 event if Kazakhstan qualifies.

Solaryov was picked in the ninth round of the 2001 draft, 281st overall. He never played in the NHL and is currently with KHL team Barys Astana.
