ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Renee's Titan rallied to win the $150,000 Santa Ynez Stakes by three-quarters of a length as a 20-1 long shot on Monday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Tyler Baze, Renee's Titan ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.14 and paid $43.80, $7.80 and $4.20 while ending a six-race skid.

Beholder, who the Eclipse Award as champion filly last weekend, wound up second in her 3-year-old debut. She returned $2.20 and $2.10, while Dawn's Charm was another nose back in third and paid $3.20 to show.

"She just got a little tired, I'd say,'' trainer Richard Mandella said about Beholder. "She had a nice trip.''

Baze rallied Renee's Titan from six lengths behind at six furlongs despite losing his whip in the upper stretch.

"I have a lot of confidence in this filly,'' he said. "I've been working her from the gate in the mornings for (trainer) Doug (O'Neill) so I knew she would break well. I just sat on her and was as patient as I could be. I didn't care how far back we were but by the three-sixteenths pole, I knew it was time to get going.''

The victory, worth $90,000, increased Renee's Titan's career earnings to $165,400, with two wins in seven starts.

In the $75,000 San Pedro Stakes for 3-year-olds, Distinctiv Passion won by 1 1/2 lengths under Edwin Maldonado.

The winner covered six furlongs in 1:08.50 and paid $3.60 and $2.10 as the 4-5 favorite. There was no show wagering because of the four-horse field.

"It's not always easy getting him to relax,'' Maldonado said. "Now that he is starting to relax, I don't think stretching him out seven furlongs should be any problem.''

With the winner's share of $46,200, Distinctiv Passion has $120,600 in career earnings and three wins in five starts.

Hear the Ghost returned $3.40, while Disarm was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third.
