Rainbow Heir runs away with Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Rainbow Heir took the lead early on and then drew off in the stretch to win the $100,000 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park on Thursday, beating Amarish by five lengths.

Trained by Ben Perkins Jr. and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, the 3-year-old colt ran the six furlongs on a good track in 1:09 2/5 and paid $4.40, $3 and $2.60. Rainbow Heir remained unbeaten by winning the Grade III race, scoring his fourth career victory and boosting his earnings to $152,460

Amarish returned $5.60 and $3.80, while Uptown Boy was 4 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.20.
