OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Change of Command set a Monmouth Park turf course record while winning the $75,000 Elkwood Stakes on Friday, overtaking Sleepless Knight in the closing strides to win by a neck.

Trained by Michael Trombetta and ridden by Joe Bravo, the 6-year-old gelding ran the mile on a firm turf course in 1:33.33. That narrowly topped the 1:33.64 mark set by Bestowed in 2007.

The victory was the eighth in 22 career starts for Change of Command, who has now earned $277,060 overall.

Change of Command returned $12.40, $5.40 and $2.80, while Sleepless Knight paid $3.40 and $2.20. Tune Me in was three lengths back in third and returned $2.80.
