Chelsea makes offer for Newcastle striker Ba

NEWCASTLE, England (AP) -Newcastle says Chelsea has been given permission to speak to striker Demba Ba about a potential transfer.

Newcastle says the London club has made an offer for Ba which has triggered the release clause in his contract, which is reported to be worth 7.5 million pounds ($12.2 million).
