WIGAN, England (AP) -Premier League club Wigan has signed Honduras midielder Roger Espinoza from Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City.

The 26-year-old Espinoza is set to make his debut in Saturday's FA Cup match against Bournemouth after agreeing to a 2 1/2-year deal in time.

He says "it's taken a while to get all the paper work done but now I can concentrate on fighting for my place and helping the team.''

Espinoza became a U.S. citizen in 2008 but opted to represent Honduras, playing for the country in July and August at the London Games.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says "the Olympics in the summer gave a great example of just what he can do on the pitch, especially in his performances against Spain and Brazil.''
