JOHANNESBURG (AP) -African champion Zambia slipped to a 2-0 loss to Angola on Saturday for a third straight defeat ahead of the start of its continental title defense this month.

Gerard scored in the 30th minute and substitute Amaro five minutes from fulltime at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto to give the Angolans a significant boost before their own African Cup campaign.

Zambia's French coach Herve Renard used 22 players in the friendly and 11 in each half, but Zambia still extended its recent run of defeats after losing to Saudi Arabia and Tanzania last month.

Zambia won its first African title last year and is grouped with Ethiopia, Nigeria and Burkina Faso at this African Cup. Angola plays host South Africa, Morocco and Cape Verde in the group stage.
