CARSON, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Galaxy announced a multiyear contract extension for forward Robbie Keane on Wednesday, extending the Irish national team captain's stay with the two-time Major League Soccer champions.

The Galaxy also signed midfielder Juninho to a multiyear deal after three seasons on loan from Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

Los Angeles didn't announce the length of Keane's deal, but Keane told Sky Sports earlier this month that he agreed to a two-year extension.

Keane has been a dominant striker in MLS since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for the Galaxy in August 2011. He scored 18 goals in 32 regular-season games last year and added six more goals in the playoffs, leading Los Angeles to its second straight MLS Cup victory while scoring in each of its final four games.

Keane was named the Galaxy's MVP last season after scoring 23 goals in all competitions, including a penalty kick in stoppage time during the MLS Cup. He was named to MLS' Best XI for the first time.

With David Beckham leaving the Galaxy and Landon Donovan contemplating a sabbatical from soccer, Keane's return is vital to the Galaxy's hopes of a third title. The Galaxy haven't filled the designated player slot vacated by Beckham's return to England, but are reportedly still considering Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, who is having a resurgent season at Stamford Bridge.

Juninho has 13 goals and eight assists in 87 regular-season games since joining the Galaxy before the 2010 season. He was an MLS All-Star in 2011, and he played in all six postseason games last fall during Los Angeles' championship run.

The Galaxy open training camp on Jan. 21, with the season opener set for March 3.
