South Africa beats Angola 2-0 to take group lead |


PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa (AP) - South Africa beat Angola 2-0 Wednesday night to take the Group A lead at the African Cup of Nations as Cape Verde held former champion Morocco to a 1-1 tie.
Siyabonga Sangweni scored in the 30th minute and Micheal Majoro in the 62nd to lead South Africa in Durban.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Cape Verde went ahead on a 35th-minute goal by Luis Soares, who wears "Platini'' on the back of his jersey. Youssef El Arabi tied it for Morocco in the 78th.
South Africa (1-0-1) tops the group with four points, followed by Cape Verde and Morocco (0-0-2) with two each and Angola (0-1-1) with one.
South Africa plays Morocco on Sunday, when Cape Verde meets Angola. The top two nations advance to the quarterfinals.
