BORDEAUX, France (AP) -Bordeaux has signed 19-year-old forward Diego Rolan from Uruguayan club Defensor.

After Bordeaux said on its website that an agreement had been reached between the clubs, Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot told RMC radio Monday that the deal has been concluded. Gillot said "it's a good signing for us. He's young, but he's a player for the future.''

Gillot added that the club's scouts had watched Rolan "six or seven times'' before signing him. He scored eight league goals in 15 games in Uruguay's Primera Division last year - including a hat trick against Bella Vista in November. No contract details were given by the club.

Bordeaux also signed 16-year-old attacking midfielder Valentin Vada on a youth development contract on Monday.
