Klose is latest to miss Germany friendly in France
BERLIN (AP) -Germany's injury problems mounted on Monday when Miroslav Klose became the latest player to pull out of Wednesday's friendly with France.
Klose underwent tests in Munich that found the Lazio striker had sustained a partially torn outer ligament in his right knee during his side's Serie A loss at Genoa on Sunday.
The German football federation said Klose would probably require a minor operation.
Germany coach Joachim Loew called up Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender for the game in Paris to compensate for the mounting absences.
Dortmund players Marcel Schmelzer, Mario Goetze and Marco Reus were already ruled out, as was Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who dropped out Sunday with an ankle injury.
Schmelzer had a sprained ankle and throat infection, playmaker Goetze a viral infection and winger Reus a groin strain. All three played in Dortmund's 3-2 win at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Another Dortmund player, midfielder Ilkay Guendogan, and Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender - Sven's twin brother - were to join up with the rest of the squad despite a strained ankle and a knee problem respectively.
