LONDON (AP) - England beat Brazil for the first time in 23 years Wednesday night, a 2-1 victory sealed when Frank Lampard curled in a shot off the post in the 60th minute.

Wayne Rooney also scored, his fourth goal in his last three games for the English. Fred had the only goal for the five-time world champions, who had spent only two days in London with coach Luiz Felipe Scolari before the exhibition at Wembley Stadium.

Brazil blew a chance at an early lead when Joe Hart deflected a penalty kick by Ronaldinho in the 18th minute. England midfielder Jack Wilshere had been whistled for getting an arm on the ball as he tried to block a cross from Oscar.
