Bremen defender Gebre Selassie breaks hand

BREMEN, Germany (AP) -Werder Bremen says Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie broke a bone in his left hand in Tuesday's practice and will need surgery.

The Bundesliga club could not immediately say how long the defender will be out of action.

Werder is 11th in the standings. The team hosts Freiburg in its next match on Saturday.
