Appleton latest manager to leave Blackburn
BLACKBURN, England (AP) -Blackburn is looking for its fourth manager this season after firing Michael Appleton just 67 days into his tenure at the second-tier English club.
Appleton joins Steve Kean and Henning Berg in departing Rovers this campaign, with the club languishing in 18th place in the 24-team League Championship in its first season after relegation from the Premier League.
An established top-flight club when Indian poultry giant Venky's completed a takeover in November 2010, it is now a mess and in danger of dropping into the third tier.
Rovers say Tuesday that Appleton has been "relieved of his duties'' along with three other members of his backroom staff.
Blackburn hasn't won any of its past nine league games, with its last victory coming in the FA Cup at Arsenal on Feb. 16.
