Cagliari to play match against Inter in Trieste
MILAN (AP) -The Italian League says Cagliari will play Inter Milan nearly 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) away in Trieste amid ongoing confusion about the rest of the club's remaining Serie A home games this season after abandoning its troubled Is Arenas Stadium.
Cagliari announced Friday that it will play its remaining home games at Trieste's Stadio Nereo Rocco. However, Trieste sports authority official Bruno D'Agostino said he is "completely surprised'' by Cagliari's request as stadium is currently undergoing reconstruction work.
The league made an inspection and ruled the work can be completed before Cagliari plays Inter on April 14.
Cagliari has been plagued by safety issues since moving into Is Arenas this season, forcing several games to be played without fans in attendance.
