Shark:"It's not end of the world"
Last updated April 15, 1996 at 2:50 a.m

Nick Price wanted his friend to win that first Masters and even left a note of encouragement on Norman's locker before the round. Price couldn't, and didn't, foresee Norman's final-round 78, which led to the biggest collapse in Masters history, and Faldo's fabulous charge to his third green jacket.

Norman suffers defeat, but no loss of class

''He is 41 now. This was Norman's time. He failed. If he couldn't win this year, he will never win here. This much seems obvious.''

It's a new, relaxed Faldo who claims the Green Jacket this time
Last updated April 14, 1996 at 11:30 PM
On Sunday, Nick Faldo methodically chipped away at Greg Norman's six-stroke lead in the Masters and then methodically held on to capture his third green jacket. Oh yes, it was the old obsessed-with-his-game Nick Faldo who won the green jacket in 1989 and 1990 and held the No. 1 spot in the Sony World Ranking in 1993-94 for a record 81 weeks. But as he claws his way back to the top of the golf world, it seems like someone said, ``Hey Nick, have a good time.''
No. 12's toll too much for Norman

He had escaped twice previously, but the treacherous little par-3 fronted by Rae's Creek took the last of his hefty Masters lead away and opened the door for Nick Faldo to take over.
Nicklaus sums up own effort
Last updated April 14, 1996, at 10 PM
After a 6-over-par 78 to finish at 9-over in his 38th installment at Augusta National, Nicklaus says: ``This wasn't a very good Masters. I played well last week, but simply didn't have a good week here. I appreciated the reception I got today walking up there (to the 18th green), and it's nice to have that emotion. But I played very poorly yesterday and today.''
Nobilo is happy with performance
Last updated April 14, 1996 at 11:20 PM
Nobilo was spurred on by the energy of the fans and the atmosphere of the Masters. He has finished in the top 10 in every major he has entered in his career, except for last year's Masters. He finished tied for ninth in the 1994 U.S. Open and tied for 10th in last year's U.S. Open.

Duval earns '97 invitation with top 24 finish
Last updated April 14, 1996 at 9:10 PM
David Duval Daily Diary: "That news was about the only bright spot of the day, considering the way I finished. I was hoping my poor play on the last four holes - I made bogey on all of them - wouldn't cost me the top 24."
Shark shocks fans
Last updated April 14, 1996 at 10:40 PM
Not all fans were ready to ditch their duds Sunday after Norman lost the Masters despite starting the day with a six-stroke lead. Hundreds of fans crowded around the No. 18 leaderboard cheered lustily every time Mr. Norman appeared to be pulling out of his slide.
