The water level of the tributary of Rae's Creek, which runs in front of the 13th green, has been lowered for the 60th Masters, making it possible for golfers to play out of the creek again.

Out-of-town visitors seemed to have figured out how the limited practice round ticket sales worked this year and more fans were from out of town Monday compared with last year's first day, according to security guards, sportswriters, vendors, patrons and police.

Woods not ready for pros

Earl Woods, Tiger's father, said his son might turn pro early if the NCAA continues its recent scrutiny during his two-year collegiate career. Woods was penalized for the third time in his collegiate career in October 1995 when the NCAA found him in violation of rules for allowing well-meaning Arnold Palmer to pick up a $25 dinner tab.
Daly still trying to figure out BellSouth

British Open champion John Daly, who beat a hasty retreat from the Atlanta Country Club after missing the cut on Friday in the BellSouth Classic, spoke about the septuple bogey 12 he had in that tournament for the first time on Monday.

The German watched countryman Bernhard Langer play in 1985, kindling a desire to play the Augusta tournament himself. This year the foreign invitee is playing with Langer, watching him play the course in person.
