The U.S. Amateur
|
Imagine slugger Mark McGwire, in the prime of his career, slamming a home run to win the World Series then announcing to a
stunned public that he was retiring from baseball. That, in essence, is what Bobby Jones did. After winning three majors in a
span of seven weeks on two continents, Jones completed the first and only Grand Slam in golf history when he won his lone
U.S. Amateur in 1930. He never played another competitive round of golf for the rest of his life. He was 30 years old.
