Fuzzy Zoeller became the first Masters winner to earn the title in a sudden-death playoff. Zoeller birdied No. 11, the second playoff hole, to beat Tom Watson and Ed Sneed. The unfortunate Sneed is probably still in shock, having started the final round with a five-stroke lead, the majority of which he gave away by bogeying the final three holes.
