21-year-old Tiger Woods pounded the course, his competitors and history into submission.
Woods finished an astonishing 18 under par,
one stroke shy of the course record and 12 ahead of second-place Tom Kite.
Incidentally, 23 years after Lee Elder broke Augusta's color line,
Woods became the first African-American to ever contend for
the championship.
