Hole 18
Par 4, 405 Yards
With the traps out there on the left, only two paths are left open: play a faded driver that follows the line of trees with the possibility of encountering one of those leafy hazards or play the drive short, leaving a longer than necessary second shot to a green difficult to hold with a longer iron.

How Arnold Palmer plays this hole
1. The ideal way is to hit a drive up the right side of the fairway. A lot of the young people will play it up the center of the fairway so they won't catch the trap on the left. That is a key.
2. With the length they have they can stick anything from a 5- to a 9-iron onto the green. But the key is staying out of that sand trap on the left.
3. It doesn't mean you can't get out of that sand trap when you're in it, but you're putting yourself in a bad position.
Historical Note
With consecutive birdies on the final two holes, Palmer rallied to defeat Ken Venturi by a stroke in the 1960 Masters. "That's the end of the line right there, making a birdie to win the tournament,''
he said.
