Chuck Knoblauch (right) had to answer a lot of questions from the media after his Game 2 folly AP

CLEVELAND (AP) -- He may be a "block head" to some but Cleveland fans appreciate Chuck Knoblauch.

Knoblauch, the goat of Game 2 of the AL championship series for the New York Yankees, got a standing ovation from the crowd at Jacobs Field as he was introduced before Game 3.

"Nice ball game," read a sign in the crowd. "Go Tribe. Thanks Block Head," said another.

The crowd gave Knoblauch another rousing cheer as he came up to bat to start the game. But he quieted the Jake when he hit Bartolo Colon's second pitch into left field for a single and later scored the game's first run.

Knoblauch's decision to argue with the umpires rather chase a ball that bounced off Cleveland's Travis Fryman allowed Enrique Wilson to score from first base, giving the Indians a 2-1 lead in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Cleveland went on to win the game 4-1 in 12 innings.

After his hit to start Game 3, Knoblauch advanced to second on Derek Jeter's sacrifice bunt, went to third when Paul O'Neill grounded out and scored on Bernie Williams' single to left.

Fryman, the Indians third baseman, gave Knoblauch a pat on the back as he reached third.
