McGwire goes yard off Baltimore's Esteban Yan, lacing one over the right-field wall for his 145th career homer at Oakland Coliseum. That round-tripper breaks Reggie Jackson's career Coliseum record.

"The only thing about McGwire is, I don't know if he wants to pay the price of hitting 500. I think Mark wants to play baseball until he gets tired of it, but you gotta play beyond that. I hope McGwire hits 500, because the game needs him."
