Candlestick Park off San Francisco's Shawn Estes, McGwire
reaches the 50-homer mark for the second year in a row. He
is the sixth player to break 50 twice in a career, joining
Babe Ruth ('20-'21,
'27-'28), Jimmy Foxx ('32, '38), Mickey Mantle ('56, '61), Willie
Mays ('55, '65) and Ralph Kiner ('47, '49). McGwire
retrieves the home-run ball from a fan in exchange for two
autographed bats.
