NEW YORK (AP) -- The greatest offensive performance in NCAA history didn't help Marshall McDougall on draft day. The Florida State second baseman, who hit an NCAA-record six consecutive home runs and drove in 16 runs on May 9, was taken in the 26th round Thursday by the Boston Red Sox. McDougall, drafted twice before -- in the 33rd round by the Chicago White Sox in 1996 and by the New York Yankees in the 37th round a year later -- was the ACC player of the year. McDougall, who went 7-for-7 and also set the NCAA mark with 25 total bases in the record-breaking game at Maryland, is hitting .429 with 25 homers and 96 RBIs. He also had a 33-game hitting streak this year as a junior. The 20-year-old previously played two years at Santa Fe Community College. The Seminoles are host to this weekend's best-of-3 NCAA regional against Auburn. The winner advances to the College World Series.
