No. 2 Cleveland Indians

Chuck Finley Chuck Finley owns a career 16-9 record and 3.49 ERA against the rival New York Yankees. Andy Lyons/Allsport

1999 Record: 97-65 (1st in AL Central)

The Cleveland Indians won the AL Central for the fifth straight year in 1999 before being embarassed in the Divisonl Series by Boston. But this team looks primed to erase the memory of last year's playoff disaster.

The signing of lefty Chuck Finley will definitely improve the rotation. Finley brings experience and the ability to pitch a lot of innings.

And he also brings a history of beating the Yankees. That's very important, because the Indians know they'll have to go through New York to get to the World Series

The Tribe will have to find someone to replace closer Mike Jackson. Also, center fielder Kenny Lofton is expected to be out until at least May after shoulder surgery. But, I expect guys like Jim Thome and Travis Fryman to have big comeback seasons, making the Indians my second best team in baseball.
