BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- The opener of a three-game series between the New York Yankees and archrival Boston Red Sox was postponed by rain Tuesday night. It will be made up on an off day for both teams, June 4, at 7:05 p.m. EDT. It will be part of a 13-game homestand for New York and the end of a five-game road trip for Boston. Wednesday night's game will mark the return of David Cone, who will pitch in New York for the first time since the Yankees allowed the righthander to leave via free agency. The Yankees will go with lefthander Andy Pettitte. Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield was pushed back in the rotation. Boston is first in the American League East, 1 1/2 games ahead of the three-time defending World Series champion Yankees.
