BOSTON (Ticker) -- Freddy Garcia and Edgar Martinez are getting to like Fenway Park.

Garcia continued his success on the road with eight strong innings and Martinez hit his second three-run homer in as many nights as the Seattle Mariners extended their winning streak to four games with a 6-2 victory over the slumping Boston Red Sox.

The winningest pitcher on baseball's best team, Garcia (14-4) gave up two runs and three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He improved to 7-1 on the road this season and is 2-0 lifetime with a 1.80 ERA at cozy Fenway Park.

"I was ready for tonight, I was prepared to do my job," Garcia said. "I am ready for every day I'm pitching. I was comfortable with every pitch I was throwing."

Arthur Rhodes walked one in a hitless ninth to nail down the Mariners' 15th win in 19 games.

Martinez won Tuesday night's contest with a three-run blast in the top of the 11th inning. He gave Garcia all the support he needed with a three-run shot off starter Frank Castillo that snapped a 1-1 tie in the third.

"Last night's game was over, it's a new game. I don't think that last night's home run had anything to do with tonight's home run," said Martinez, who leads Seattle with nine career homers at Fenway Park.

"The last few games I've played here, I haven't done so well; the last two games, I've been able to hit some home runs. The home runs I have hit (here) are because I have been around for a while and have played a lot of games."

Bret Boone followed one out later with his 27th homer to make it 4-1. He climbed within one of Cleveland's Juan Gonzalez for the American League lead with his 105th RBI.

"It's not so fun facing him when he's got his stuff," Boone said of Castillo. "He's one of the top guys."

Castillo (7-7) struggled for the second time in as many starts since coming off the disabled list. He surrendered five runs and seven hits in five innings as Boston lost for the sixth time in its last seven games.

"The third inning was what killed me," Castillo said. "An 0-2 walk to (Mark) McLemore, a bad pitch to Edgar, then Boone hits what I thought was a good curveball. It was just one bad inning and it cost me."

The Red Sox fell five games behind the first-place New York Yankees in the American League East.

"To me, the key was the way that Freddy Garcia pitched. We scored two runs on three hits for the game," Boston manager Jimy Williams said. "Their pitching has been very, very strong against us. They're a very good baseball team."

Seattle got right to work against Castillo. Ichiro Suzuki started the game with a double and scored on McLemore's single.

Boston tied it in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring force play by Manny Ramirez, who has 104 RBI.

After the Mariners' four-run third, the Red Sox got back one in the sixth as Trot Nixon tripled to center field and scored on Carl Everett's groundout.

Boston rookie Sun Woo Kim gave up one hit over three scoreless innings, but Seattle got to Bill Pulsipher in the ninth on Suzuki's RBI single.

"We've been doing it all year long," McLemore said. "Everybody's been producing. The big thing has been the pitching, that's what sets the tone for us. The pitching staff gives us the opportunity to score some runs, be in the ballgame, and gives us a chance to win each and every day."
