PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Luis Ugueto homered and drove in three runs and Bret Boone homered and drove in two as the Seattle Mariners posted a 10-6 Cactus League triumph over the San Diego Padres. Ichiro Suzuki, Jeff Cirillo, Christopher Snelling and Dan Wilson had two hits apiece for the Mariners, who pounded out 16. Seattle starter Freddy Garcia was tagged for five runs and five hits in five innings and John Halama survived three shaky innings in relief. Kazuhiro Sasaki finished up with a hitless inning. Former Mariner Brett Tomko started for San Diego and surrendered five runs and nine hits in four innings. Ray Lankford and Julius Matos homered for the Padres, who blew a 5-3 lead. |
