PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Ryan Thompson homered and drove in three runs as the Milwaukee Brewers overcame a five-run first inning to defeat the Chicago White Sox, 11-8, in a Cactus League matchup. Chicago erupted for five runs off Brewers starter Nick Neugebauer to open the game, but Milwaukee stormed back for four runs in the bottom of the frame. Seven players had two hits for the Brewers, including Thompson and Raul Casanova, who also homered. Izzy Alcantara went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Ryan Christenson added two hits and drove in two runs. Chicago starter Dan Wright struggled through 4 2/3 innings, allowing nine runs and 10 hits and lost for the third time this spring. Neugebauer faced 12 batters in 1 2/3 innings, surrendering six runs and five hits while walking two. Paul Konerko was 3-for-4 with a run scored and Joe Crede had two RBI for the White Sox. Darrin Ebert threw two scoreless innings to pick up the win and Mike DeJean pitched a perfect ninth for the save. |
