TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- D'Angelo Jimenez and Mark Sweeney had four hits apiece as the San Diego Padres outlasted the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4, in 11 innings in a Cactus League contest. Jimenez had three singles, a double and two RBI while Sweeney, recently signed after being released by the New York Mets, had three doubles, a single and scored two runs. Pete Incaviglia added two hits for the Padres. Danny Bautista went 2-for-4 and Luis Gonzalez and Steve Finley homered for the Diamondbacks. San Diego starter Bobby Jones allowed four runs and six hits in five innings and went 1-for-2 with an RBI at the plate. Matt DeWitt pitched two perfect innings to get the win and Jose Nunez wrapped up with a scoreless 11th for the save. Eddie Oropesa surrendered two runs and two hits in 2/3 inning to take the loss. |
